Neiman Marcus + Target = Fail + Mystery …
February 11, 2013 § 2 Comments
So, we have all heard (and oh gosh, seen!) that the Neiman Marcus + Target Holiday 2012 collection was a flop.
Okay, now, I admit, there are a few things that for the right price I would have, or did purchase. I only purchased once items were 70% off, and then I felt like it was a proper Target price/deal/buy. But why did they have to price everything so high to begin with? Don’t they know that Target shoppers love Target for the style + the value? Rodarte for Target, loved it. Gautier, eh, but bought a few pieces. But they were all priced reasonably. If I remember correctly, nothing that I bought from the Rodarte for Target collection cost more than $35, and it was propper Target (not Rodarte) quality. I love every piece, and they are all still in circulation in my closet. Neiman Marcus was a great idea, until we all saw the price point for the quality. I loved the Tracy Reece top, until I saw the back. They couldn’t even find a cheap blue fabric that *almost* matched the sequins? I also adored the Prabal Gurung cape, but it was fleece, with some sequins! And yes, I know it is a cape, but it only came in one size, and even at 70% it still seemed like a stretch for Target’s style+value approach.
In the end I bought two pieces that I adore. The Altuzarra Old Fashion Glasses and the Thom Browne women’s shrunken blazer. For only $15 for a set of four, I wish that I had bought 2 more sets of the Altuzarra glasses, but something weird happened. When you put the items in your shopping cart on Target.com it stated: Item must be returned by January 15th, 2012. Even when they were put into the cart ON the 15th. So I was curious what would happen on the 16th …
I waited.
I refreshed.
Gone. Vanished.
I even went into the store and asked. “All shipped back out.” But to where? Where did these sad, overpriced but some still somewhat lovely pieces go? I get why they were 70% off. Why did I have to wait to see what would happen next? I really wanted more of those glasses. And the shaker. The tray was pretty sexy, too. But only at 70% off or more …
Neiman Marcus Last Call?
Anyone?
Buller?
Buller?
Why did I wait so long? I guess this is what they mean when the say that curiosity killed the cat.
